Youth From the Slums is a personal clothing brand designed and created by Juan Rivera, inspired by his experiences growing up in the Stowe Village Housing Projects in Hartford’s North End. Raised by a single mother who relied on welfare, Juan experienced poverty and financial hardships from a young age. Rather than allowing those circumstances to define him, he turned his experiences into motivation and created Youth From the Slums as a reflection of resilience, ambition, and self-expression. The brand represents anyone who comes from underserved communities or circumstances and understands what it means to struggle, dream, and work toward something greater. More than just clothing, Youth From the Slums is Juan’s way of telling his story, embracing where he came from, and inspiring others to believe that their beginnings do not have to determine their future.
